With coronavirus at our door and the possibility that many vulnerable people may need to self-isolate, there are some great ways providing practical help and support. Here are our top three ways to help, so far - let us know what we've missed:

Drop a postcard round your neighbours offering to help, and before we get into lockdown, take the time to have a chat? Read about this great idea from Becky Hass in Cornwall here.

We are delighted to have been awarded £35k by WRAP from the Defra Resource Action Fund to prevent food waste. This will allow us to install a walk-in chiller and recruit a project officer to help us get more surplus food for our community.  Click here for full details of the new post.

At the moment, we collect food from 20 stores every weekday. This project will allow us to extend our reach to food manufacturers, wholesalers an...

During the winds of Storm Ciara, the roof of our beloved depot was ripped off. This caused extensive damage to our unit,  neighbouring businesses and houses.

The unfortunate situation only served to highlight what a fantastic community we have around us. The property owners Morris & Co were very supportive in temporarily re-homing us in one of their brand new units. Their team helped us clear up and move....

Many of the community groups we share food with are closed in the holidays, so we have partners across the town that host #Foodshare tables. Everyone is welcome to collect good food at foodshare tables over the school holidays. We expect to have 10 - 20 trays of bread, fruit, veg  and treats to share each day. Donations are welcome and will go to our running costs.

One in 4 potatoes never gets eaten. Let’s stop food waste one potato at a time.

Latest research from WRAP (Government Waste Resources Action Programme) shows that a massive 9.5 million tonnes* of food that was good to eat got wasted in the UK in a year. It’s gone down by 7% in the last 4 years, but we’ve still got a long way to go!

70% of that was in our own homes, compared to only 30% in the supply chain. Potatoes, bread, chic...

Happy New Year!    Festive #foodshare continues. Please keep coming!

A huge thank you to the hundreds of people who have helped stop good food going to waste these last few days. We've never had so much food to share - we've had more than 5 tonnes in 4 days - nearly as much as we normally get in a month.

A food system that has so much waste built in is wrong and massively damaging for the environment, but HUGE thanks to the...

There are going to be two community meals this month to use up Christmas food surplus and bring people together over the festive period.

Everyone is welcome to come along to the two course meals. They will be served at 12:30pm, made by Osnosh and a team of brilliant volunteers. The meal will be made from surplus food collected by the volunteers that morning. So it will be a surprise as to what is cooked - but it's guarant...

Shrewsbury Food Hub is in partnership with four churches to share food over the Christmas Holidays. Everyone is welcome at the #foodshare tables, so please come along.

In the school holidays, a lot of our regular groups are closed, so we need a extra help from everybody to get this good food into tummies! We can never predict how much or what type of food we will get but we generally expect 10-20 trays of bread, fruit and veg...
