For food emergency support, visit Shropshire Larder

We’re delighted to share that the St. James’s Place Charitable Foundation in Shrewsbury has awarded the Food Hub a hugely generous £5,000 donation!

What’s particularly special about this support is how it began.

Back in March, during his first week as Head of Fundraising, David Johns attended the Shropshire Business Festival in Telford, where he met Chimene Felton and Ethan Jones from Throgmorton Associates Wealth Management and St. James’s Place.  What began as a conversation soon grew into a valuable relationship. The event’s relaxed and fun atmosphere provided the perfect setting to learn more about our work tackling food waste and supporting local communities.

David Johns, Head of Fundraising, said:

“From our very first conversation with Chimene and Ethan, it was clear they shared our passion for creating positive change in local communities. We’re incredibly grateful to the St. James’s Place Charitable Foundation for this generous support. This donation will help us continue rescuing good food, reducing waste and ensuring it reaches people and organisations across Shropshire who can benefit from it.”

This week, we were delighted to welcome them to our depot to see that work in action. They saw surplus food arriving and being sorted by volunteers, including stacks of pizza ready for redistribution, and visited our Community Kitchen where volunteers were transforming surplus fruit into delicious Christmas cakes.

The visit ended on a high as Chimene and Ethan presented a £5,000 cheque to Shrewsbury Food Hub.

Chimene Felton, Throgmorton Associates Wealth Management, said:

“Seeing the Food Hub’s work firsthand has been truly inspiring. From the volume of food being rescued and redistributed to the dedication of the volunteers, it’s clear what a difference the organisation makes every day. We’re delighted that the St. James’s Place Charitable Foundation has been able to support such a worthwhile local charity and look forward to seeing the impact this funding will have.”

We’re hugely grateful to Chimene, Ethan and everyone at St. James’s Place for their support and belief in what we do. Partnerships like this help us rescue more food, support more community groups and reduce waste across Shropshire. If your business would like to make a difference through financial support, sponsorship or partnership opportunities, we’d love to Start a conversation

And, in true Food Hub fashion, Chimene and Ethan didn’t leave empty-handed, taking some beautiful surplus flowers back to brighten their office.

Thank you for helping us turn surplus into something positive for our community.
