There are many ways for your company to support our work to save good food from going to waste – helping to save the planet and nourish our community.

We like to build strong and lasting relationships with our corporate friends to support their environmental and social aspirations as well as our own charitable objectives. Each corporate partnership is different – it is never one size fits all!

We will work with you to make sure our partnership is a success. Here are just some of the ways we work with businesses.

Corporate Awaydays and Team Volunteering Days

Our corporate awaydays and team volunteering days are brilliant ways of bringing your CSR (ESG) to life and engaging your teams in making a difference for a cause close to your heart. Getting together to help at the Hub is great for team bonding, boosts wellbeing, and is lots of fun!

We welcome teams of up to 12 for our standard corporate day package, donation cost £50 a head (min. 6 people). Chat to us about our half day, multiple volunteering days, and bespoke packages for larger or smaller groups. You will get to see Food Hub volunteers in action harvesting, sorting and redistributing surplus food to frontline charities and groups that put it to good use in our community. Activities will vary and include:

Enjoying surplus refreshments accompanied by a short introduction on who we are, what we do and why
Working alongside volunteers in the depot sorting food, making up food trays and general day to day depot jobs
Going out with harvesters to collect and deliver food across Shrewsbury
Turning veg on the edge into delicious soups and other ready meals that are portioned and shared with our partner groups and community freezers
A shared lunch is also on the menu!

'Charity of the year', charity partnerships + employee fundraising

By choosing Shrewsbury Food Hub as your ‘Charity of the Year’ or charity partner, you can rally your staff, customers, members and suppliers to do their bit for environment and community!

Bake sales, quiz nights, raffles, sponsored sporting challenges, dress up days, Christmas Jumper days, surplus supper parties, in lieu of Christmas card giving – the list is endless! The aim is to get staff involved and have fun!

Charity of the year | Shrewsbury Food Hub

Surplus food boxes for sharing

The #HubLove food box that reduces food waste and gives back to our community. Our mission is to reduce food waste by ensuring good food doesn’t go to waste just because it is surplus to requirements or wonky! As well as supporting 60+ local charities, community groups and Foodshares with the food we rescue, we also make up food boxes for companies to share with their staff. Individual boxes can be delivered or collected from our depot for a donation of £10 per box per week – start with 2-month trial and then sign up for a year. Each box will contain a selection of bakery goods, yoghurts or puds, and a lucky dip of fruit + veg! The value of the food supplied would be more than £20. You and your staff feel good knowing you’re helping fight food waste and get to sample some delicious goodies too, win-win!

Give a home to a collection tin

Collections help with our fundraising and to raise awareness of our work to redistribute surplus food. Our donation tins are designed to be used at fixed locations in offices and at shop till points. Small change really does make a big difference – last year collection tins helped raise over £3,500! If your business can adopt one of our collection tins, email [email protected]. Once registered, we’ll deliver the tin. All you need to do is call us when its full and we’ll swap it for an empty one.

Donations

One-off and regular donations are a much-needed boost to support our charity’s work. To donate, simply click the donation button at the top of this page. £10 would pay for food safety training for one volunteer. To take this further, you could ask members of staff if they would like to make a regular, tax-free donation via Payroll Giving so they pay a donation directly out of their wage. Just £5 a month could provide enough food for 10 meals.
