For food emergency support, visit Shropshire Larder

Last week, Shrewsbury Food Hub hosted a thank you lunch for Shropshire Freemasons with the assistance of local chef extraordinaire Steve Guy of @thehungryguy fame (pictured).

Over the years, the Masons have been great friends to the Food Hub. As well as regular generous donations to support our work, they are also the reason we have Ronnie, our beloved van, which they funded back in 2018.

In autumn 2022, the Masons invited local food charities to bid for a share of funding as they were keen to support our community through the cost-of-living crisis. The Food Hub received an amazing £10k to help keep our wheels turning and, with support from Shropshire Masons, this money was match funded by the Masonic Charitable Foundation which is the national charity of Freemasonry.

The lunch was cooked by Steve using surplus food rescued by the Hub and was our way of saying thank you. As well as showcasing how to create seriously delicious dishes from surplus food, it was an opportunity to share a little more about how the funding from the Masons has been put to good use and to talk about future challenges and opportunities facing the charity.

Funding from the Masons and others helps the Hub get surplus food put to good use for the benefit of the community and environment. Learn how you can get involved and help us continue to make a big difference people and planet here https://www.shrewsburyfoodhub.org.uk/support-us
