Silvia does a great job for the Food Hub keeping our accounts in order. She also gives her own time as a volunteer.

As we all know, life is never straightforward. A week after her 50th birthday, Silvia was diagnosed with breast cancer. Unsurprising to those of us who know her, Silvia has continued to work through most of her post surgery and treatment time. Never one to stand still, Silvia decided that she would take on a 50km walk over two days through the beautiful Shropshire Hills. At the same time raise money for breast cancer awareness and Shrewsbury Food Hub.

Over one weekend in September, she completed her sporting challenge. She was joined at various stages by friends, family and some of the Food Hub team and volunteers. Thanks to Silvia’s friend Martin, the well-planned route meant that supporters could easily join the walk at times to suit. Even though the weather was not always great, Silvia successfully walked her 25km each day and was never alone.

Silvia raised a total of £1,000 (exactly!), £650 to Against Breast Cancer and £350 to the Food Hub. Thank you Silvia! Your hard work and dedication to causes that matter to you have inspired us all.

It isn’t too late to donate, here are the links to donate to her chosen charities: Against Breast Cancer   Shrewsbury Food Hub
