For food emergency support, visit Shropshire Larder

Over the past few months, we’ve had the pleasure of working closely with the Severn Bridges Multi-Academy Trust—and it’s been such a rewarding experience.

In February, we brought together students from four schools for a lively food education workshop at Shrewsbury Flax Mill. The young people who joined us were absolutely fantastic—curious, engaged, and full of enthusiasm. In fact, they were almost as passionate about reducing food waste as we are!

That same community spirit carried on last month when Severn Bridges organised a clean-up event, raising funds for the Food Hub along the way. It was one of those brilliant moments where everything comes together—supporting the local community, caring for the environment, and helping spread the word about the work we do.

We’ve also been inspired by the Green Day event in Pontesbury last month where Rae Valley Scouts and Pontesbury Guides litter picked, built a giant bug hotel and made bird boxes. They also helped eat some good surplus food from the Hub. It’s incredible to see so many young people getting involved and making a difference.

It’s never too early to learn about food waste, sustainability, and how small actions can make a big impact.
