Shrewsbury Food Hub is launching its Big School Breakfast Campaign to give local children a better breakfast. For the next seven days, every pound donated to the campaign through the Big Give website will be doubled.

Katy Anderson, the Food Hub’s manager explains “We support 10 schools in Shrewsbury with deliveries of surplus food, meaning they can give kids free toast and a healthy snack. However, some schools are reporting that children are coming to school without having had a healthy breakfast, leaving them hungry and unable to learn.”
“We would like to get more surplus food to help our schools, as we know there is no funding for school breakfast clubs in Shropshire.”
“This project will get enough surplus bread, cereals and yogurt for 30,000 breakfasts to Shrewsbury schools throughout 2020 to make sure children are getting the best start.”
To make this happen the Shrewsbury Food Hub has teamed up with match funding platform The Big Give. With £4000 already pledged by local companies and The Reed Foundation, the Hub now needs to raise the same amount in the next 7 days (between 3rd-10th December), to secure the pledges and double the donations. Just £10 will provide food for 70 breakfasts.
