We're hiring! Could you help run the Food Hub?

We're excited to announce that we have funding to recruit a paid member of staff to help run the Food Hub. The Hub has grown beyond all expectations since it started in April 2016. We now have 45 volunteers, collect food from 8 stores and get it to 32 community groups.

JOB SPECIFICATION - DEPUTY PROJECT MANAGER - 2.5 DAYS PER WEEK

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

The Deputy Project Manager is responsible for managing the operations of the Food Hub including the rota, health and safety and relationships with volunteers and member groups. The Food Hub is seeking to expand its operations which will mean that the role will change. The role is to keep the day to day operations steady as The Hub grows.

 

Responsibilities include:

Recruiting, managing, training and supporting our volunteer drivers and admin supporters

Managing the relationship with groups on an on-going basis

Organising the weekly rota of collections

Compliance with health and safety

Identification and implementation of improvements

 

WORKING HOURS AND LOCATION:

 

The deputy project manager will work 7am – 2pm, 2 days a week plus on call and evening duties. Please note this role requires being on call to support drivers between 7 - 8.30am (Monday to Friday) and receiving food alerts in the evening, Sunday to Thursday.

 

The deputy project manager will initially work from home or at other team member’s houses, but once we have a depot they will be based there for their working hours apart from on call and evening duties.

 

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

 

Essential Criteria

Good organisational skills with track record of managing a volunteer team

Good communicator, both verbally and written

Good Excel spreadsheet skills

Demonstrated ability to problem solve and make decisions independently, using guidance provided

Clean driving license with access to a vehicle

 

Desirable Criteria

Committed to reducing waste and building a stronger community in Shrewsbury

Ability to identify stories and get photos for social media

Level 2 Food Safety Qualified (training can be provided)

 

REPORTING AND ACCOUNTABILITY

 

The Deputy Project Manager will report to the Project Manager, Katy Anderson. Training will be provided.

 

CONTRACTUAL TERMS

 

This will be a temporary part-time position for 6 months. There will be a probation period of 1 month. Payment is £8.45 per hour, 7.5 hours per day for 2.5 days per week.
