Last 2 days of Festive #foodshare Thurs 2nd and Fri 3rd Jan

Happy New Year! Festive #foodshare continues. Please keep coming! A huge thank you to the hundreds of people who have helped stop good food going to waste these last few days. We've never had so much food to share - we've had more than 5 tonnes in 4 days - nearly as much as we normally get in a month. A food system that has so much waste built in is wrong and massively damaging for the environment, but HUGE thanks to the hard working staff in all our donating stores, all t

Shropshire Larder website launched to help people in food poverty

A new website has been launched to help people in Shropshire who are struggling to afford a healthy diet. The Shropshire Larder website brings together local information on how to eat well on a budget, how to access money advice, and the location of food banks and other community food projects around the county. Research carried out by Sheffield Hallam University suggests that up to 27,000 families in Shropshire will be affected by the welfare reforms. Food banks across the c

When life gives you stale bread..make pudding!

Volunteers Jean and Rachael Breakell have been exploring some delicious ways to use up left over bread. Bread is one of the foods we waste most. At last count, an astounding 34% of our total bread production was wasted, so out of every 10 fields of wheat we grow, 3 of them are grown just to be thrown away. More than half of this happens in our own homes, so everything we can do to avoid waste helps....especially if it's delicious! Jean's been experimenting with bread pudd
